FOR : |
The Honorable City Mayors

FROM: |
The LCP National President
|
SUBJECT: |
Appeal for coordinated assistance to affected cities of Typhoon Quinta, Rolly, and Ulysses |
DATE: | November 16, 2020 |
The unprecedented landfall of three (3) tropical storms in three weeks or from October 25 to November 11 in the country has greatly affected our cities from Luzon. Based on the available Situational Reports from the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC), a total of 64 cities have been affected by Typhoon Quinta, Rolly, and Ulysses. The saddening news is, 17 out of these 64 cities, or 26\\%, have been affected by the three tropical storms with displaced families since October 25 when Typhoon Quinta hit the country. Most of these cities are located in Southern Luzon or Regions 4 and 5.
The good news is that many cities have been extending help directly to those heavily hit by these typhoons. Most heartwarming is that some of the assistance, specifically workforce and equipment come from the areas also affected by these typhoons. Still, sizeable resources and will power are needed to facilitate the affected cities’ recovery efforts.
I have already instructed the Secretariat to coordinate the relief assistance to the affected cities and created a Special Committee headed by our Secretary-General and Calapan City Mayor Arnan C. Panaligan to determine the most strategic way of distributing the funds that we will raise. Given our dwindling resources, I humbly appeal to those who have extra and may still want to extend assistance. By pooling in our resources, we are in a better position to assist our members. We will keep this account open for financial donations until 15 December 2020, and disbursed it to the affected cities based on the recommendations of the Special Committee:
Account Name: LEAGUE OF CITIES OF THE PHILIPPINES, INC.
Bank: LANDBANK OF THE PHILIPPINES - MAKATI BRANCH
Bank Account Number: 0052-1301-58
Thank you for all your assistance, and keep safe! Very truly yours,
Mayor Evelio R. Leonardia
LCP National President
