New and Earlier Deadline for the Submission of Complete Documentary Requirements for the LGSF-AC

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) requested the assistance of the League in ensuring that all cities will be able to utilize their respective allocation contained in Local Budget Circular No. 123 dated 12 February 2020 which appropriates an amount of Php 2,489,800,000 to enhance the existing or develop new public open spaces in publicly owned lands to make cities sustainable, livable and resilient.
As stated in the Circular, the FY 2020 LGSF-AC funds will only be released to cities upon submission of complete and compliant documentary requirements on or before 31 August 2020. However, a recent communication from the Department of Budget and Management stated that the new deadline for the submission of complete requirements had been moved to 30 June 2020 to synchronize all submissions for the Local Government Support Fund and to ensure that LGUs will have ample time to implement the project within 2020.
According to DBM, the new deadline has been communicated to LGUs, and this advisory is a reiteration of that communication. Kindly complete the necessary documentary requirements contained in LBC 123 and submit them to the DBM Office of the Secretary – Technical Review Unit on or before 30 June 2020.

As the number of cases of COVID-19 cases continues to rise in the country, it is imperative for cities to improve access to testing and ensure quicker turnaround time. As relayed by DOH Undersecretary Rosario Vergeire during our testing webinar last May, one of the most cost-effective strategies for expanding access to testing is through the establishment of modular labs. These are container vans that can be converted into testing laboratories and can be set-up even in far-flung and remote LGUs at a lesser cost than the full-blown molecular laboratories.

MDFO is mandated to provide financing for priority development projects of Local Government Units (LGUs) at lower interest rates. For 2015, the Urban October starts on October 5 in time for the World Habitat Day and ends on October 31 in time for the World Cities Day.
