RE : Earth Hour 2018 Switch-Off Event

DATE: March 7, 2018

Uniting millions around the world for climate action, Earth Hour is a testament to our collective power to make real and significant change. It is most successful global campaign of World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). Earth Hour 2017 was participated by 187 countries and inspired more than 18 million Filipinos to switch off their lights for the planet.

We are pleased to report that 97 Philippine Cities have participated in last year’s event. On its 12th year, Earth Hour 2018 is to be observed from 8:30PM-9:30PM on 24 March 2018 with a switch-off event at Cultural Center of the Philippines Complex, Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City.

As with last year, the League highly encourages your city to participate in the switch-off event to observe Earth Hour 2018. By joining the switch-off, we are switching our social power to change climate change and to promote biodiversity conservation across the world. Please use the hashtag #Connect2Earth and #EarthHourPH2018 if your activities will be available online and will be published on social media.

We would be grateful if your city can share with us your local earth hour post activity report so we can forward them to the WWF for inclusion in their report.

Attached are the Campaign Overview and the DILG Memorandum Circular for your reference and guidance. For more information, you may also visit their official website at https://wwf.org.ph/what-we-do/climate/earth-hour/.

Thank you for your cooperation and let’s make history together!
