TO : THE HONORABLE CITY MAYORS

RE : Call for Interested Cities for the project Titled: "C5 for Education: All Roads Lead to SHS Implementation in 2016"

DATE: August 29, 2014

The League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP) is pleased to announce the Call for Interested Cities for the project titled: “C5 for Education: All Roads Lead to SHS Implementation in 2016.” The project will identify ten (10) cities as the first batch of Coalition members. This is done in collaboration with The Asia Foundation (TAF) – Coalitions for Change (CfC) Education Theme and through the generous financial support from the Australian Aid.

This initiative intends to establish a Coalition of cities that will design effective and responsive senior high school (SHS) investment plans with corresponding adequate budgetary support, as reflected in city annual investment plans. Coalition members will be provided training and mentoring sessions on SHS investment planning and budgeting. They will also be provided assistance in establishing their local multi-stakeholder task forces for SHS implementation, and in tapping national government allocation for SHS facilities.

For interested cities, please submit the following requirements to the League Secretariat through fax number (02) 470 7210, or email at league.cities.philippines@gmail.com on or before 17 September 2014:

  1. Prepared or proposed senior high school investment plan; and,

  2. Local School Board (LSB) resolution expressing the city’s interest to participate in the project and willingness to allocate a portion of the special education fund (SEF) for SHS implementation.

For queries and clarifications regarding this project, you may contact Ms. Emy Ruth Gianan of the LCP Secretariat through telephone numbers (02) 470 6843/13.
