The League of Cities of the Philippines is proud to be part of the international observance of the National Women's Month Celebration with the theme, "We Make Change Work for Women." The 2019-2022 administration saw the highest number of elected female city mayors in the history of the League – comprising 27 percent of the total percentage of city mayors. In its National Executive Board, the League takes pride of its focal mayors representing women and advocating for gender and development (GAD). Mandaluyong City Mayor Carmelita Abalos is currently the Focal Mayor for Women Sector while Masbate City Mayor Rowena Tuason sits as the Focal Mayor for GAD. The League is also honored to have Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte as its Executive Vice-President.
In celebration of the National Women's Month, the League will bring its project, "Promoting GAD advocacy in cities through the establishment and strengthening of GAD Focal Point System (GFPS) in cities," supported by the Embassy of Canada through the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) to Bacolod City this 26 March 2020 to take part in the culmination of the city’s National Women's Month Celebration.
