Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista is the new President of the League of Cities of the Philippines. He is the LCP's 9th President. Elected unanimously on July 19, 2013 by the city mayors, Mayor Baustista promised an exciting phase for the LCP as he recognized the roles of cities, ‘they are the heartbeat of socio-cultural and economic activities.’ he said.

Based on the available Situational Reports from the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC), a total of 64 cities have been affected by Typhoon Quinta, Rolly, and Ulysses.
