LCP - Department of Tourism Partnership

By LCP Secretariat
January 15, 2013 - Metro Manila

LCP will assist DOT on its campaign for mandatory accreditation of local primary tourism enterprises. In the MOU with DOT, LCP will encourage its member-cities to submit to DOT a list of their accredited tourism enterprises to get DOT national accreditation. As member of the newly-formed working group, LCP will assist DOT in the formulation of a national mandatory accreditation program. In return, DOT will provide LCP a list of nationally accredited tourism enterprises and coordinate with LCP in the technical assistance like seminars and information drive on the national accreditation procedures and standards.

During the ceremonial signing, LCP Executive Director Jeremy Nishimori expressed that LCP is supportive to DOT's national programs.  Early in 2010, LCP launched the City Tourism Snapshots: Your Guide to Amazing Philippine Destinations to promote Philippine cities as prime tourist destinations.

Tourism Act of 2009 mandates DOT under the Office of Tourism Standard and Regulation to develop and enforce a comprehensive system of mandatory accreditation of primary tourism enterprises and voluntary accreditation of secondary tourism enterprises in coordination with local government units. Primary tourism enterprises include travel and tour services, tour guides, tourist transport services, hotel and tourism estate management services, sports and recreational facilities, MICE facilities (i.e. meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions) and accommodation establishments.
