LCP Secretary General and Marikina City Mayor Del De Guzman welcomes the second batch of LCP - International City/ County Management (ICMA) professional fellows and expresses full support for their month-long immersion in the United States. Mayor De Guzman said the program hopes to inspire the fellows and foster camaraderie among their American counterparts.
Seven new fellows visited Mayor De Guzman on October 1, 2015 prior to their departure to United States (US) this week.
The seven fellows were selected through a competitive screening process under the LCP-ICMA Professional Fellowship Program which is supported by the United States Department through the Young Southeast Asian Leaders' Initiative (YSEALI). The YSEALI brings young local leaders for a month-long immersion in different US local governments.
During their immersion, fellows are also required to develop and implement a community case action plan which they will apply to their local communities after their stint.
LCP President Mayor Herbert Bautista through LCP Executive Director Eduardo Soliman hosted a reception for the fellows. He said that this LCP-ICMA program enhances the potential of already budding leaders in their respective fields and hopes to develop new innovations in meeting local development challenges.
The second batch of LCP-ICMA- YSEALI fellows are Vermon Timbas (environment specialist) Karla Monica Limbo (city councilor), Philip Robert Flores (local resettlements project manager), Farrah Inihao (municipal councilor), Mary Therese Gonzales (environmental engineer), Bryan Clark Hernandez (project researcher), and Rhea Jane Pescador (senior forest management specialist)
