Davao City, 4 October 2019 - The League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP) recently held its 69th National Executive Board (NEB) meeting last 27 September 2019 at the Dusit D2 Hotel in Davao City. Led by LCP National Chairperson and Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella, the NEB meeting gathered city mayors to provide them with updates on the activities of the LCP through its Secretariat.
President Duterte Open to Exploring Options for Early Implementation of Mandanas Decision
Davao City, 28 September 2019 - City mayors expressed their gratitude to President Duterte following the latter’s announcement that he is exploring options for local governments to immediately avail their share of the national revenue as ruled by the Supreme Court in the petition filed by Batangas Gov. As the number of cases of COVID-19 cases continues to rise in the country, it is imperative for cities to improve access to testing and ensure quicker turnaround time. As relayed by DOH Undersecretary Rosario Vergeire during our testing webinar last May, one of the most cost-effective strategies for expanding access to testing is through the establishment of modular labs. These are container vans that can be converted into testing laboratories and can be set-up even in far-flung and remote LGUs at a lesser cost than the full-blown molecular laboratories.
