Pasay City, 7 June 2022 - City mayors gathered on Thursday, June 2nd, at the Manila Ballroom of Marriott Hotel Manila during the League of Cities of the Philippines' (LCP) Special General Assembly to celebrate the significant contributions of city mayors over the past three years. Veronica Hitosis and partners from the VNG International, headed by Ms. Irene Oostveen, the Project Manager of the DEALS Programme or the Governance of Inclusive Green Growth in Cities, met with Bataan Governor Albert Garcia, LCP Vice President for Luzon & Balanga City Mayor Francis Anthony S. Garcia and select local chief executives on 20 April 2022 at The Bunker at the Capitol to cement their commitment for a stronger collaboration on improving solid waste management in the province.
LCP participates in the 9th Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD) side event
Quezon City, 22 April 2022 - the Philippines' Voluntary Subnational Review (VSR)team, headed by LCP Executive Director Veronica Hitosis, participated in the 9th Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development side event. The APFSD is an annual and inclusive intergovernmental forum and a regional platform that supports the 2030 Agenda. The side event was organized by the United Cities and Local Governments Asia Pacific (UCLG ASPAC), together with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) and Asian Development Bank (ADB) with the theme "Bridging the Gap: Experience of Subnational Government in Reporting and Monitoring SDGs Achievement." The program had separate panel discussions on Voluntary Subnational Review (VSR) and Voluntary Local Review (VLR).

Trenas last 29 March 2022 to discuss the Year 3 activities of the Cities System Capacity Development (Ci-Cap) Project to complement the city's efforts in improving its education system for all Ilonggos and support the city's vision of becoming a top highly urbanized city in 2028 while also championing education, particularly at the primary level.

As the number of cases of COVID-19 cases continues to rise in the country, it is imperative for cities to improve access to testing and ensure quicker turnaround time. As relayed by DOH Undersecretary Rosario Vergeire during our testing webinar last May, one of the most cost-effective strategies for expanding access to testing is through the establishment of modular labs. These are container vans that can be converted into testing laboratories and can be set-up even in far-flung and remote LGUs at a lesser cost than the full-blown molecular laboratories.
